Related Events Today -October 13, 2010 Cookery Workshop: Canning A hands-on "can along" workshop that will provide a full understanding of the basics of home canning to help you preserve the summer bounty. We'll go over safety tips and, although the focus will be on one or two recipes, we'll discuss other preparations and recipes for a particular vegetable or fruit. Everybody will can a jar from start to finish (and take it home). Topics (one topic per session) include: Peaches & Other Fruit; Tomatoes; Pickles (it's more than a cucumber); and Apples, Pears & Quince.

September 25, 2010 The Herbal Dyepot Using plants, wildflowers, nuts, berries, roots, and vegetables from the garden, students will learn how to coax vibrant, organic, lasting, harmonious colors from Mother Nature.
Traditional techniques covered include shibori, kuzaki-zome and hapa-zome (i.e., tie-dye, grass and leaf-dyeing and plant pounding) to achieve sophisticated designs on silk or wool.
