Arts & Culture Chateauville Foundation & the Performing Arts The Chateauville Foundation was established at Castleton Farms in 1997 by Artistic Director Lorin Maazel and Dietlinde Turban Maazel to nurture young artists, foster collaborative artistic enterprise and create opportunities in the community for shared cultural experiences. In an intimate, acoustically superb and highly versatile Theatre House on the Maazel's 550-acre property in Rappahannock County, lovers of the performing arts may enjoy concerts, recitals and and dramatic presentations performed by world-renowned artists. During July of each year, the Castleton Festival brings together more than 200 talented, young, artistic professionals, creating and presenting exceptional performances of operas and glorious symphonic music. The Castleton Festival First presented in 2009 by Maestro Lorin Maazel and his wife Dietlinde Turban Maazel through their foundation, the annual Castleton Festival, presents fully staged operas, symphonic concerts, recitals, chamber music, c and open master classes. With performances beginning in late June and running throughout the month of July at Castleton Farms and other locations within Rappahannock County, this festival marries the very best young talent from around the world to study, collaborate and perform within a bucolic country setting.
